Emu Bikes is a truly British brand, formed in 2014 to bring value and style to the electric bike market. With a retro town bike styling and a strong focus on quality, Emu's electric bikes are a cut above your typical off-the-shelf eBike.

Our Involvement

Emu Bikes’ previous web developer of choice ceased trading, leaving their eCommerce platform “Mothership” unsupported. We stepped in to fill the gap so that they didn’t have to rebuild their site, and even rolled out updates for the platform.

  • New modules created for previously unsupported eCommerce platform
  • Full SEO audit including the implementation of Schema.org structured data
  • New PPC campaigns created, returning increased traffic at a significantly reduced cost
  • A hosting solution that balanced response time with cost
  • In house ad asset generation and various redesign work on the website.
  • A range of assets designed for the Emu Bikes brand

As part of our work with Emu Bikes, we created high-fidelity art assets for the site, including:

Organix launched in 1992 with the fundamental belief that everybody deserves to eat well and that organic ingredients and delicious recipes can encourage a life-long love of good food. Organix don’t just make tasty, organic food for children; they also aim to help educate parents and children too.

We provided a consultancy service to Maynard Malone Ltd. over a period of three months to help build the new Organix site. We were required to:

  • Design and develop an exciting website
  • Utilise the Organix brand with high resolution imagery of the various Organix products and brand

In just a few months, we provided Organix with a highly functional and re-designed website that met the brand and business goals. Using Drupal’s flexible permission system, we developed a site workflow that allows the team to publish content to the site, whilst also retaining the ability to delay the publishing of articles and content to the website until a later date.

Our Involvement

We provided a consultancy service to Maynard Malone Ltd. over a period of three months to help build the new Hero Group site. We were tasked with:

  • Using Drupal 7 to provide a simple to maintain and user-friendly website
  • Create a fully responsive and visually engaging homepage with a balance of well-structured site content with scope for future expansion
  • Create a fully responsive frontend for optimal viewing experience across an array of devices ranging from desktop to tablets

Street Smart Property Ltd. work hard to make every aspect of moving home easier, more cost-effective, and stress-free. They aim to provide a better service than high street estate agencies, advertising customer properties on all the best websites including Rightmove, Zoopla, and Primelocation.

The Brief

The most important requests for the new Street Smart website were

  • To ensure that users could quickly and easily find the information they were looking for
  • To provide clear routes of discovery of available properties, whilst encouraging and enhancing user engagement
  • To have an extremely user-friendly interface that would ensure editors could concentrate on publishing great content without having to worry about page layout or styling issues

The Result

Drupal 7 was our preferred choice of content management system because of its open-source code and extensibility, meaning that the client could have complete control over the site and that it would be fast and robust out of the box. It would also allow inexperienced users to easily update the site content thereby reducing training overheads. The new website uses a responsive design to optimise the user viewing experience, meaning that even if they are on a desktop, tablet or mobile device, they are always viewing the website at its best.

Lambeth Safeguarding website screenshot

The goal of this project was to build an accessible, fully-responsive Drupal 8 website build on behalf of Lambeth Council.

The Brief

Lambeth Council asked us to create a new website for their twinned "Adults" and "Children" Safeguarding Boards. The Safeguarding Boards are two separate organisations but both have the same objective of protecting vulnerable individuals from abuse and neglect.

The Safeguarding Boards required a site that would be:

  • Easy to update and maintain
  • Mobile friendly
  • Accessible to a WCAG 2.0 AA standard

One of the Safeguarding Boards already had a legacy Drupal 6 site so their staff were comfortable with using Drupal as a Content Management System (CMS).

The Result

Based on Lambeth Council’s requirements we decided to build their website using the Drupal 8 CMS. Drupal 8 is the latest version of Drupal and will be future-proofed for years to come. The platform allows for content to be edited in-place on the frontend of the website rather than from a backend admin panel. The editor uses a "What You See Is What You Get" (WYSIWYG) format for ease of use. A one day training workshop was provided by us to introduce staff on how to use the new site.

The site was built using a "mobile-first" approach – designing, developing and testing for mobile devices first and then progressing on to tablet and desktop devices. This approach to building websites is the strongest way to implement responsive design and guarantees visitors using mobile devices will have a first class experience.

To help smooth the transition and reduce training times, we integrated three different 3rd party modules and the pre-existing Google Custom Search instance the staff had been using in the past into the new site.

All our websites are developed with accessibility in mind but the WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standard set a very high bar for the project. We iteratively re-tested the site against the WCAG 2.0 AA standard as we worked, to ensure that both our design and code choices met this very high accessibility standard.

The resulting website is future-proof, well structured, and fully-responsive. The site caters for its many disparate visitor types whilst allowing them to find the safeguarding information they need quickly and efficiently.

This site will go live in the coming weeks.

It is one the fastest growing Fintech companies in Europe and has offices in the UK, Asia, Australia, and the US.

Our involvement

We have been working with WorldFirst for the last couple of years and have built up a fantastic relationship that we are very proud of. We have so far undertaken the following projects for them:

  • A microsite for a partnership between WorldFirst and the Times newspaper
  • A bespoke Symfony 2 based business intelligence tool
  • WordPress country specific blog rollouts with multi-lingual functionality and a clean and elegant design aesthetic
  • Provided a number of newsletter templates that showcase WorldFirst’s business activities and are easy for them to update
Voice Squad Website

Voice Squad represents some of the best voice-over artists in the UK, both in English and foreign languages. They have an extensive portfolio of high-calibre artists from all over the world who are UK-based. They provide voices for TV and radio commercials, corporate films, animation, audio-books, and many other forms of media.

The Brief

Zodiac Media were tasked with implementing a complete redesign of the site, including:

  • Adding shortlisting and filter-by-artist functionality
  • Implementing voice clip downloads and streaming
  • Migrating the contents of one of Voice Squad's sister sites
  • Mobile compatibility
  • Optimising the site to increase search engine rankings

The Result

In order to migrate the new content, we had to synchronise the new sitemaps, add appropriate redirects and avoid any duplicate contents. The site was developed in WordPress to allow instant updates from the Voice Squad team, allowing them to change content and images as and when required.

The website was also built using a "mobile first" approach and was optimised for multiple device resolutions, with a clean and elegant look that is simultaneously modern and enterprising.

Cambridge Protein Works Site

Cambridge Protein Works produce pure proteins for research professionals in industry and academia, saving their customers the considerable effort, time, and cost of protein expression and purification. Their website allows their customers to obtain the precise protein reagents that they require and was founded and managed by a team of structural biologists.

The Brief

Cambridge Protein Works approached us with a brief to:

  • Create a brand new store front that accurately reflects their brand
  • Provide an efficient communication platform for customers
  • Enable different editors to edit and add to the product catalogue

The Result

Our first task was to design and develop the whole functionality in Magento. We maintained a strong focus on the on-page UX (User eXperience), so that the interface and customer experience was intuitive and easy to use and that information was readily accessible. You can now easily purchase proteins and view detailed information about each of the products. The final result is a memorable and slick website, offering an extremely important service to labs and businesses across the world.

CTI Website

The Confederation of Timber Industries (CTI) is an umbrella organisation, representing the UK's Timber supply chain from forest to end-of-life recycling. The CTI represents producers, manufacturers, and distributors of timber across all the supply chain. Its membership includes large multinational companies as well as key trade associations, NGOs and research institutes.

The Brief

We were tasked with:

  • Creating a mobile optimized website built on a Content Management System of our choosing
  • Creating a clear, intuitive user interface based on a pre-existing design provided by Nick Watts Design Ltd.
  • A solid and simple backend that enabled CTI to easily upload all the latest industry news, information, achievements, and work

The Result

The designs that had been devised were very ambitious, which lead to a number of challenges for our developers. Most of these challenges occurred when trying to transform the static design concept into a fully interactive experience. Planning the site with mobile first in mind allowed us to create a streamlined experience based on its potential users' most common goals.

We delivered a clean, modern web interface incorporating the easy to use Drupal 7 CMS, which gave the client full control over their content, from any device. It also made provisions for adding further functionality if needed, giving it a degree of future-proofing. The client was extremely happy with the build and usability of the interactive supply chain.
