Punteroo Website Screenshot

Punteroo is an app for providing a way to bet among friends on anything from the outcome of a football match to the length of a best man’s speech.

The Brief

Punteroo provided us with a very short brief to come up a logo and style guide for their new iOS app which was being built by Bristol based agency Simpleweb.

The Result

Within only a few days we created Punteroo's new logo and an accompanying style guide outlining the typography and colour palette for their new app. We also created a bespoke set of "sporting logos" to help give the app a unique feel whilst aiding with the app's usability by minimising the amount of text on screen.

Simpleweb incorporated these design steers into the beta iOS app they made.  The results are available to view for yourself on Punteroo's website.

CruiseHQ.co.uk website screenshot

Cruise HQ is a fully-responsive cruise holiday comparison site built with a resilient API driven architecture and a cutting-edge dynamic frontend. It compares both cruise suppliers’ and travel agents’ pricing, tracks pricing changes, and notifies customers when cruise prices change.

The Brief

The website's core aim needed to be to keep the user experience as simple as possible and make the content easy to find for the broad range of users that would visit the website. Many challenges were faced when creating a comparison engine of this scale. The site had to:

  • Have a lightning-fast response time
  • Be scalable enough to be able to process and display large quantities of data
  • Have up-to-the-minute pricing data and reflect any changes immediately
  • Deliver a clean, modern web interface incorporating an easy to use Content Management System
  • Offer an excellent user experience across desktop, tablet and mobile devices

The Result

To ensure that the design was practical, we developed several different structural and design concepts before making any final decisions. We kept the user experience simple and made the content easy to find for the broad range of users that would be visiting the website, providing them with all the information that they need to make a buying decision and plan their perfect cruise holiday.

We created a data scraper in NodeJS that was capable of processing over 10,000 web pages every ten minutes and then parsing that information into a common format to be processed by an API. The Symfony 2 API stores all incoming cruise data and outgoing messages in RabbitMQ queues in order to prevent any downtime or dropped messages. We also integrated the Apache Solr search engine into the API; this meant we see sub-150ms response times and also provided the ability to filter searches with an almost instantaneous response.

Grown in Seconds Site

The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) is the leading international trade association for the U.S. hardwood industry, representing American hardwood exporters and the major American hardwood product trade associations. The American Hardwood Export Council promotes a greater understanding of the true environmental benefits of American hardwoods in design and manufacturing.

The Brief

  • Create a bespoke site from a pre-existing design provided by Nick Watts Design Ltd.
  • Provide an immersive and engaging experience that brings to the forefront the highly sustainable credentials of American hardwood
  • Ensure that the site has low processing overheads and a small server footprint

The Result

We built this site on AngularJS in order to meet the small server footprint requirement, allowing for a large number of visitors without issue. The end result required multiple widgets to interact with each other, with a variety of web elements altering their display status in time with each other and negligible delay. The site is supported by online advertising placed within design and architectural publications, driving visitors from across Europe to the Grown in Seconds site.

The platform that we created uses statistics gathered by the US Forest Service, tracking the yearly growth and harvest rates of hardwood species and then calculating how quickly the wood used in these projects can be regrown. The final result is a memorable and slick website, offering an innovative information source to businesses and individuals across the world.

Zodiac Booking Website

Zodiac Media designed and built Zodiac Booking to take some of the industry standard features available to large tour operators and makes them accessible to smaller companies that otherwise would not be able to afford bespoke development.

The Brief

  • Provide cottage suppliers a platform for their customers to search, reserve, book, amend, and cancel their cottage and holiday bookings.
  • Provide a fully transactional booking engine integrating the Carlton TABS API
  • Optimised for mobile platforms

The Result

We implemented a feature-rich search engine and geo-location map search that could provide up-to-date availability and booking. A fully customisable content management system that allows even the least technical of people to manage their site with ease was designed from scratch using Symfony 2. The site is fully responsive and built from the ground up to look its best on every device.

Berkshire Billtong Website

Berkshire Biltong is a unique manufacturer, founded on a passion for high quality Biltong. They use high quality ingredients and do not rush the production process, resulting in the tastiest Biltong that the Zodiac Media team has ever had.

The Brief

  • Create a brand new bespoke website that accurately reflects their brand
  • Provide an eCommerce outlet for all their products
  • Keep their user experience as simple as possible and make the content easy to browse

The Result

With the client’s needs in mind, we decided that Magento would be the best solution. This allowed for greater control in merchandising, promotion, and sales of the products that are available on the site. This also made browsing the site and managing the product catalogue a triviality. The site includes attractive product images and an intuitive navigation system, enabling the consumer to have all the information at their fingertips regardless of the browser used. Responsive templates and a simple Magento CMS meant that the website was ready to go in record time and sell tasty Biltong to the masses.

Nabru Sofas Website Image

Nabru have over eleven years of experience in manufacturing and retailing self-assembly sofas. In that time they have sold over 150,000 products and have serviced more than 50,000 customers. Nabru manufacture all of their sofas in the UK at their headquarters in the Greater London area.

The Brief

Zodiac Media has been involved with Nabru for nearly two years. During this time we have been tasked with:

  • Undertaking a complete rebuild of the site’s frontend and a full backend code refactoring
  • Replacing their mobile site
  • Migrating all the legacy codebase
  • Optimising the site to increase search engine rankings
  • Optimising content so it appears correctly in Google Shopping results

The Result

Nabru wanted an online presence capable of handling whatever advances were thrown at it. As with all of our customers, we implemented all of our new changes in a test environment and then deployed the changes onto the live site without affecting the data in the live database or the customer experience. We built their new site using a "mobile-first" approach.  This meant that Nabru had a single website that could cater to multiple platforms, making it easier to maintain and update.

Nabru's diverse range of current and potential customers is always at the forefront of every decision. A very close relationship has been fostered through daily update emails and weekly meetings. This has allowed us to create as much transparency as possible, giving the client detailed knowledge about the status of the project at all times. We have had a great working relationship with the Nabru for many years, and have developed their website as they have changed and developed as an organisation.
